Glass Stack Fusing
By building up layers of fused glass you can create a stand-up sculptural piece with a 3D effect.
On this course you will build a 6” x 6” stand alone stack-fused piece of your own design. This is an advanced course – previous fusing experience and good cutting skills necessary.
You will need to prepare an image or idea before you arrive for the course, which you can dissect into three segments of depth. Abstract designs can work quite well as can picture scenes which you can divide into a background, middle-ground and foreground. This is a good opportunity to experiment with colour theory and transparent colour-layering, so consider this when developing your design. There will be opportunity to fine-tune your design on the morning of the first day when you know more about how the piece will be constructed.
On day one you will produce three 6mm thick panels (the three layers of depth) which will be fused overnight. These will then be stacked and fused on top of each other in a second firing on day two (half day), with extra layers of clear to create your completed piece.
All materials are included in the cost of this course.
Day 1: 10am - 4pm
Day 2: 10am - 1pm
There will be a maximum of 8 students to ensure individual attention.
We offer a 10% shop discount for students while on the course (this excludes kilns, power tools and sale items).
What do I need to bring?

Loved this class!By Rachelle
This was a fabulous class. Simon was so patient with all my questions and I learned so much that I didn't know about glass. In fact, this class is what finally sold me on getting my own kiln. Everyone in the class had such great ideas and now I have so many ideas that I want to try!
One word of advice: Although I've been working with copper foiling for years my cutting skills were stretched in the process of cutting precise pieces without using a grinder to finish them, so I'd recommend practicing your cutting skills before the class.

Amazing!By Sharon and Hilary
This was an amazing course! It was definately helpful to have cutting experience and a bit of knowledge in how glass reacts in a kiln. It was amazing seeing how everyone's ideas unfolded, and how different everyone's was.
Simon, as ever, was an excellent tutor and very encouraging and patient, and helpful with everyone.
We learnt new techniques and it has definately whetted our appetite to experiment again at home.
Good value for money too! Looking forward to the next course! Thank You!
