Level 1 Summer School Week - 'The Garden'

This level 1 week long Summer School offers beginners and improvers an opportunity to build a stained glass panel from scratch. Learn the traditional process and develop your core skills which can be used as a springboard to approach further creative stained glass projects after the course.

Make a piece of beautiful glass work to enhance your garden or be inspired by 'The Garden' theme to make a panel.

You will have the opportunity to explore a broad range of techniques including sandblasting, kiln fired glass, paint, stains, enamels, fusing, copper foil and mosaic to decorate your work.

This fun five day course will give you the chance to really immerse yourself in a project.

You will learn step by step the essential making process from design, cutting glass, leading, soldering, cementing. Students with more experience can work on individual projects.

Bring in inspirational materials such as photographs or drawings and learn how to transfer these into a workable design for glass.

Materials are not included in the course price. Some practice glass and lead will be provided, but you will be required to buy your own materials as you go along. The Creative Glass Guild shop is adjacent to our teaching studios and you will receive a 10% discount in the shop while on the course (excludes power tools, kilns, sale items and books). You will design your piece, but it will need to be no larger than A3 size.

Lunch is by your own arrangement. We have a kitchen with microwave for student use and we are a short walk from a cafe and corner shop.

Students must be 16 years or over.

The course will be taught by Ruth Adams, who has taught glass painting at Central Saint Martins and stained glass at The City Lit in London.  Now teaching at Stroud College and here at Creative Glass Guild.
