Mondays from 9th April 2018
A 5-week course offering beginners and improvers an opportunity to build a stained glass panel from scratch. Learn the traditional process and develop your core skills which can be used as a springboard to approach further creative stained glass projects after the course.
Beginners will be given a thorough grounding in the making process from translating original designs into a cutline drawing, selecting, cutting and shaping glass, leading, soldering, cementing and finishing. You can also include fired glass painting or sandblasting to embellish your work. Continuing students can develop their skills with tutor support.
Materials are not included in the course price. Some practice glass and lead will be provided, but you will be required to buy your own materials as you go along. The Creative Glass Guild shop is adjacent to our teaching studios and you will receive a 10% discount in the shop while on the course (excludes power tools, kilns, sale items and books). You will design your piece, but it will need to be no larger than A3 size.
Lunch is by your own arrangement. We have a kitchen with microwave for student use and we are a short walk from a cafe and corner shop.
Students must be 16 years or over.
The course will be taught by Ruth Adams, who has taught glass painting at Central Saint Martins and stained glass at The City Lit in London. Now currently teaching at Stroud College and here at Creative Glass Guild.
