The Kristall 1S Glass Grinder by Inland is a reliable and powerful upgrade from the standard Kristall 1, making it ideal for both beginners and more experienced stained glass artists. Supplied with a grinder bit and sponge, this model offers excellent performance for regular studio use.

Designed for efficiency and durability, it features a strong motor capable of handling heavier workloads, while still being easy to set up and operate.

Usage & Maintenance

Always wear eye protection when using a glass grinder. Before use, fill the water reservoir to reduce airborne glass dust and to keep the grinding bit cool and lubricated, helping extend its lifespan.

Apply a thin layer of lubricant (such as coppaslip) to the motor shaft before fitting the grinder bit. For easier adjustments, lightly grease the allen screw thread as well. Ensure the screw is tightened against the flat side of the shaft to avoid damage.

The included sponge expands when wet and should be positioned behind the grinder head so it maintains constant contact with the bit. If a white paste forms during use, this usually indicates insufficient water or incorrect sponge placement. Rinse the sponge regularly and replace it when worn.

When first using the grinder, practise on scrap glass to get a feel for control. Set the bit with approximately 1/8" (3mm) of diamond surface exposed, raising it gradually as sections wear down.
