Marble Making Taster Day
Discover how to make borosilicate art marbles and learn the basic skills for hot glass. On this one day course you will learn a little about the marble industry and some of its famous artists before making a few experimental marbles using two of the most common lampworking marble techniques, namely the cane and compression techniques. These techniques give scope for a wide range of effects and are solid foundations to progress into advanced marble making.
The aim of the day is to develop the skills and confidence to produce one clear, one cane and one compression marble.
No previous experience neccessary.
Our facilities are available for hire, so you can come into the studio and practice in your own time once the tutor has agreed that you're suitably experienced.
Classes are restricted to a minimum of six students to ensure individual attention.
This course will be taught by Charlie Donegan, a lampworker and glass blower who has just returned from a two-year glass-working expedition in Canada. We are very lucky to have him with us to share his skills.
